Everything is now in place for the 2010 European
Luscombe and Friends Rally, to be held at Oaksey Park airfield
on the 6th-8th August.

Please state on first contact whether you wish to attempt the
spot landing on arrival.
PPR is not required (except for non-radio aircraft). Lyneham,
Brize and Kemble will be informed and ready to help lots of Luscombes
find their way into Oaksey over the weekend! All the info you
require regarding the airfield should be available on the above
link or at Oaksey Parks wesite, www.oakseyairfield.supanet.com.
Please avoid the noise sensitive areas shown on the map, and remember
the threshold is displaced on Rwy 22.
As with last year, you are invited to arrive any time on the Friday
for the fun and games to begin, and we will be having dinner in
the Wheatsheaf Inn, a short walk from the airfield, after a few
beers in the clubhouse. Saturday night will be a curry night,
with plenty of Lusty Luscombe Ale to wash it down with! The event
will then wind down by around 11am on Sunday 8th, anyone arriving
after this time will simply be visiting Oaksey Park airfield.
A single landing fee of £8 will entitle you to unlimited
landings over the whole weekend, so you can come and go as much
as you like. We have tried to keep the cost this year as low as
possible, as we are all feeling the pinch financially at the moment.
I think you will agree that, at £7 for a curry on the Saturday
night and £5 for a cooked breakfast, this event is excellent
value for money!
Once again, we will be holding a spot landing competition, with
a shield for the winner. Two attempts will be allowed (on arrival
if you wish I suggest arriving overhead to have a look
first), just let the radio operator know that you wish to attempt
it so we can make sure the judges are ready. There will also be
a shield for the Best Luscombe, so youd better get polishing
your lovely aircraft

Weve prepared lots of games for you, including rounders,
Jenga, and a collection of very silly board games. Were
looking forward to everyone getting involved and having a
good time helped of course by the odd pint of Lusty
Luscombe Ale, along with bottled beer and wine, which will
be available on both Friday and Saturday evenings. |
Should you wish to phone ahead to check weather,
runway in use or any other info on the day, you can contact me
on 07968 980624.
Were very grateful to Brian and Evelyn Austen, Oaskseys
owners, for allowing us the freedom of this lovely airfield for
the weekend. All profits will go to Oaksey parish and All Saints
Church. Lets see if we can make this years Rally even
bigger and better than last years, despite the difficult
economic times. Who knows, we might even hit 30 Luscombes?! The
weathers been ordered, and all is in place, so all that
remains is to hope that lots of you can make it and have a very
enjoyable and relaxing weekend with us!
Safe flying,
Nige Barratt.
